Help Me Fly
Through the Storm
The Goal
Since I was a child building model airplanes with my dad I've loved the idea of becoming a pilot but I never pursued that as a career because I felt it was always out of reach financially. In the past year and a half however, a combination of my career as a flight attendendant and the current demand for pilots has ignited a spark of an idea in to a dream that I simply cannot let go of. However, my dream has been shattered by a financial obstacle that has left me feeling lost and defeated.
Due to traumatic life events that happened in my youth, I failed to stay current on student loan debt which has left a scar on my credit history. This scar has interfered with several high paying career opportunities I've been presented with. More recently it this lasting blight on my prospects has presented itself in the form of my having been denied every loan I have applied for, and my lenders won't even consider a cosigner. I have been left with no options and no path forward to achieve my dream. But I refuse to give up. I refuse to let this setback define me or limit my potential.
So I'm turning to you, my family, friends, and supporters for your help in pursuing my dreams of flying. I've spent the last year and a half diligently selecting my ideal flight school and laying out a timeline that most guarantees my success. I've begun studying the material and I am ready to dedicate every moment of the next couple of years towards achieving that goal. I just need the finances to get there.
What Can You Do?
I know this seems like a lot of money but I know that it's absolutely possible. I just ask that you read through the rest of the site to get a feel of my plan for this endeavor going forward. Once you have a good idea of who I am and where your money is going, I have two possible avenues by which you could help me achieve this goal.
Donations:
As much as I would love to pull myself up by my bootstraps and get this done on my own, I need help and so I am accepting donations over the coarse of the next year towards achieving this goal. The preferred method of donation is direct funding via Zelle, CashApp, or Venmo. These have lower (if any) rates associated with fund transfers and have less interference from the services themselves which in the case of other fundraising platforms, has led to massive delays or outrights blockages of funding. However, these methods present very little in the form of oversight and I understand that may make some people weary. So to help assuage those concerns, I've also created a GoFundMe you can donate to.Investments:
Alternatively, if you are capable of making larger contributions but would like to treat it more like a loan, I am willing and able to provide loan terms for amounts over $5,000 with high interest rates (between 15-30%) that would begin repayment as soon as my training is complete and I am working as a flight instructor. This would then move in to rapid repayment once I have secured a job as a commercial pilot. If this sounds like it might be a fit for you, then please use the contact form and provide me with as much detail as you can in terms of what amount and what terms you would like to set and/or any additional information you might want like character references for example. We can then arrive at mutually agreed upon terms including providing proof that the funds have remained unused until such a time where they are paid to the flight school for training.
Either way, the path to becoming a commercial airline pilot is broken up among several certifications, and as such funds will be immediately applied towards those steps as the goals are reached. So if you've even the smallest amount of cash burning a hole in your pocket, go ahead and use the QR codes below to donate via CashApp, Venmo, or Zelle or check out the GoFundMe page if you'd rather go that route. If you'd rather pursue the investment route or simply have any other questions you'd like to ask, feel free to click the CONTACT ME page at the top of your browser and I will reply to your e-mail within 24 hours.

Who Am I?
My name is James and I'm a 35-year-old Miami native. My awe for flying started at a young age when I would build model airplanes with my dad. Since then, my love for aviation has always persisted in the back of my mind and manifested in my hobbies.
I also have a soft spot for animals, and I'm always looking for ways to help as many people as I can. As a problem solver, I thrive under pressure and relish in finding creative solutions to any challenge that comes my way.
I am currently employed at Spirit Airlines as a flight attendant and it is here throughout my many conversations with our pilots that I've come to realize this was my calling.
The Plan
As I said before, I have been researching this career path for over a year now and have considered many options. However, based on my age and present career as a flight attendant, I've had to select a school with a track record for success and a program that gets me in the flight deck of a jet as soon as possible. In addition, it was important to me that the school I chose was reliable not only with their equipment, but also with their connections and career paths to all the major airlines. With all these factors in mind, I've chosen ATP Flight School as the best option to put me on my path to success. I encourage you to check out their website however I will summarize some of the key points of their program, starting with 0 hours flight time.
Each of the steps laid out in the timeline above can be paid separately and that is how I plan to approach this process, beginning each step once the funds have reached particular milestones. There are some initial costs that I have excluded from the breakdown that I will be paying for on my own. These cover pre-requisites such as medical evaluations and demo flights as well as initial deposits needed to reserve my training date and begin class. As every milestone is reached, I will be updating the progress page of this site as well as providing more detailed update via e-mail to anyone who requests it. Once I have completed CFI academy, I will be working as a flight instructor in order to reach my minimum required hours to begin flying as a commercial airline pilots. It's also worth noting that due to the time this fundraiser may take, I am also looking at cheaper options elsewhere so that I can do a portion of my traning outside of ATP in order to bring down the total cost of the fundraiser.
Fortunately, thanks to the current pilot shortage and the growth of the aviation industry, many airlines are currently making major drives towards hiring new pilots including but not limited to my current employer, Spirit Airlines. Through their partnership with ATP they have a career path that guarantees a first officer seat once the minimum required 1500 hours are met.
Next Steps
Over the coming weeks I will be updating this site with more information as well as with updates on milestones as they are reached. Even if you can't donate, please share this page any way you can. If 1,200 people donate $10, I can achieve my dreams and provide for my loved one in ways I never have before. More importantly, I will be able to finally start giving back.
If you've made it this far in the page, thank you so much for your time. When this all succeeds, I can't wait to find a way to make it up to all of you.
